GIVING IS CARING
Partnering with the homeless population to provide hope and solitude
We recognize that homelessness is a complex issue with many underlying causes
Overview:
The CALI Project is proud to introduce the “Caring for Homeless individuals” initiative. We recognize that homelessness is a complex issue with many underlying causes. That’s why we approach our work with empathy and understanding, providing not just housing but also support services to help individuals rebuild their lives. By partnering with local governments, housing authorities, workforce development agencies, and other local nonprofit organizations, we are able to offer a diverse range of resources to help this population get acclimated back into society
Our Mission:
Founded by Crystal Wharton, The CALI Project aims to deliver 100 affordable housing units by the end of 2024. Our first major milestone was the rehabilitation of a four-bedroom home with a studio and a detached accessory dwelling unit in the South St. Pete Community Redevelopment Area.
Key Features of the Program:
- Affordable Housing: Our goal is to provide affordable housing units to individuals experiencing homelessness, and veterans. We focus on ensuring that these homes are safe, high-quality, and tailored to meet the needs of low-income individuals.
- Innovative Solutions: We employ modular, panelized construction methods to create customizable living spaces, addressing the affordable housing shortage creatively and effectively.
- Community Partnerships: Collaboration is at the heart of our initiative. We work closely with local housing authorities and various nonprofits to identify needs and provide sustainable housing solutions.
- Comprehensive Support: Beyond housing, we aim to offer holistic support to formerly homeless individuals, and have access to resources from financial literacy courses to feeding and nutrition programs helping them achieve stability and self-sufficiency
